We All Miss You

So I have been in middle school for more than half of the year and I am already missing you guys. I miss the fun that we had with you Ms. Vandervelde, and Mr.Moore. You guys were the funnest fifth grade teachers that I have ever had. Although you were hard on us sometimes, you were still good people. I hope that you are having fun with your other fifth graders now and I hope you can get my message now. We all miss you and we all just want to go back to the fifth grade so bad because middle school is way harder than we though it would be and honestly fifth grade was kind of easy for me. Although I still look down while I type, I try my hardest not to. I have learned a lot from you guys and thank you for giving me that opportunity of that. It was a privilege to meet you two and I hope you guys have fun.

                                                                                                   Sincerely, Nickol Olin

Respiratory system

Dear readers,

I have recently just finished my respiratory system and now I am going to make a drawing for you.

And there it is. My wonderful master piece of science. For the whole time I have been trying my best to do this and I know my teachers aren't proud of me because they don't really know that I have, but I gave a lot of effort into doing this.

Is There Any Homework Today?

Dear ladies and gentlemen,
In the article Too Little, or Too Much? It Depends there are three main ideas. There are three details from the text to help support my main ideas, one for each. I have also put together three sentences together of my own thinking.

One of my main ideas is: The worldwide amount of homework is different. The detail to help support this main idea is : "The amount of homework can differ from school to school, though". My own thinking about this is : I think that sometimes the amount of homework around he world should be the same so that everyone in their grade is caught up with other children worldwide in the same grade.

The second main idea is: Homework is causing kids to miss their sports games and practices. A detail from the text to support my thinking is: "High school seniors, at least, seem to be doing less work than they used to". My own thinking about this is: I think that it is a bad thing missing sports games or practices because you could get get kicked off the team and I would know that because I on the soccer team at my school.

My third and last main idea is: Kids aren't getting as much homework than they need to be. The first detail I saw in the text to support this main idea is: "The 2012 NAEP (National Assessment Education Progress) asked students how much time they had spent on homework yesterday. In all three age groups questioned, more than a fifth had no homework at all: That was true of 22 percent 9-year-olds, 21 percent of 13-year-olds, and 27 percent of 17-year olds". My own thinking about the last main idea I have typed is: I think that the kids that are getting no homework should be getting homework because its better for them to get homework because it is giving them a better understanding of the lesson that they are learning.

Hives gone wrong.....

Dear Readers,

In the article, Deadly virus spreads from plants to honeybees, there are three main ideas in the text that I have read.
1. My first main idea is: Crops are giving bees a virus causing a lot of money to be spent. A detail from the text that helps support this main idea is: "A rapidly mutating virus has spread from plants to bees". My thinking about this main idea is: I think that the plants that are giving bees the virus that they need to get cut down because its causing bees to die and then people won't get as much honey.
2. My second main idea is: Bees are getting more weak by the cause of stresses and a new virus. A detail from the article to support my main idea is: "Indeed, the new virus, along with the Israeli Acute Paralysis Virus. was linked with colonies considered "weak" due to a variety of stresses". My own thinking about this is: Stresses just get humans mad and maybe put them in pain, but for bees stresses might make them sick or even die.
3. The last main idea for this article is: Finding out why bee colonies are collapsing. The detail I saw from the text is: "Last year, USDA and Environmental Protection Agency scientists listed what research what shows to be the major causes of colony collapse: pesticides, pathogens, and inadequate nutrition, in part caused by the diminishing availability in certain wild flowers whose pollen that bees like to eat". My own thinking about the last main idea that I thought of is: Finding out why bee colonies are collapsing is good because now if the scientists get to learn more about the bees and their colonies then they can stop them from collapsing or even maybe stop the bees virus.

Libraries New Technologies!

In the article Library goes from the printed page to the digital screen, there are three main ideas. Here they are: Libraries are changing. A quote from the text that helps my decision is:"You may not know it,but libraries have become community tech centers". My thinking about the main idea is: I wish that our school was a "community tech center". Another main idea is:Helping people get jobs. A quote from the text that helps support my main idea is: "They also needed help looking for jobs online". My thinking about this main idea is: It is a good thing for librarians to help people find jobs-including online. My last main idea is: Getting new electronics. A quote from the text that helps support my last main idea is: "The Ramsey County Minn.,library system bought a 3-D printer two years ago. People are able to print three-dimensional objects with it". The thinking about my last main idea is: This is a good 3-D printer because it allows kids to print three-dimensional papers that could be used for some kind of homework. There is my work for the article that I just read and I hope this is enough for you. See how much Books there are?

Get the hint now?

You really can't see computers or any type of technology. That's how a library should be.
